Job Title: Senior Database Specialist

Responsibilities
The Senior Database Specialist is responsible for collaborating with Alumni, and School and
College engagement personnel to assist in project scoping and planning; fulfilling data and
report requests; analyzing, interpreting and contextualizing large data sets to identify effective
ways of boosting organizational efficiency; providing end user support, investigating and
resolving application, transactional and data-related issues of enterprise fundraising software,
specifically Blackbaud's CRM/BBIS, Papersave and other associated products.
Develops ad-hoc queries and reports using established reporting tools such as SQL Server
Reporting Services (SSRS) reports and Microsoft Power BI against the University Advancement
data warehouse and other various data sources (e.g., Oracle BI) to support the Division of
University Advancement. Fulfills data requests for mailing lists, donor rolls, key performance
metrics, demographic trends, and giving analyses. Create data models, design Power BI
visualizations/dashboards, and test on-premises reporting using Power BI Report Server
upgrade testing.
Create automated business processes (e.g., Donor engagement score/membership loyalty level
calculation script/ Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA), and acknowledgments). Submits cases
and serves as liaison with vendor technical support. Assist webmaster with designing web
transactional forms in the university advancement donor portal or other donation websites.
Participates in thorough testing and validation efforts of deliverables such as reports, data lists,
applications, and system upgrades, ensuring timely and accurate results. Utilize report design
software or SQL (SSRS) for reporting.
Collaborate with development officers, alumni, and school and college engagement personnel
to assist in project scoping and planning. Reviews technical solution designs from a business
point of view and recommends alternatives to colleagues. Develop various reports for Alumni,
School, and College engagement staff to assist in decision-making.
Uses a ticket system to identify and track the history of the problem areas and develops
solutions to address the issues. Participates in Advancement Committees on data migration and
other duties as assigned.
Performs duties in compliance with ITS policies, guidelines, and processes pertaining to support
requests, work orders, project management, change management, and incident management.
Appropriately utilizes associated tools in accordance with ITS standards.
This position has been deemed eligible for full remote work capability. Upon vacancy, remote eligibility
will be reviewed.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and two years’ experience or a combination of post high school education
and experience equal to six years.
Blackbaud's Raisers Edge or BBCRM software experience preferred. SQL or similar query
language required.
Driver's License, Class E
