Wesleyan College is seeking applications for a Director of Alumnae Relations who will be responsible for designing and implementing a comprehensive strategy to engage alumnae in the life of Wesleyan College. Reporting to the Vice President for Institutional Advancement, the Director will foster meaningful relationships between the College and its alumnae through communications, events, volunteer programs, and strategic partnerships. This role plays a critical part in supporting the College’s mission, enhancing alumnae engagement, and cultivating philanthropic support.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Leadership and Strategy

  • Implement the strategic alumnae engagement plan that aligns with the College’s mission and institutional priorities.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership, faculty, and staff to integrate alumnae relations into key campus initiatives and programs.

 

Alumnae Engagement

  • Plan and execute a diverse portfolio of engagement opportunities, including Alumnae Weekend, regional events, class reunions, student/alumnae programs, webinars, and affinity-based programs.
  • Identify and steward key alumnae champions and volunteers to serve as mentors, speakers, hosts, and ambassadors.

 

Communications and Outreach

  • Develop a year-round communications strategy using newsletters, email campaigns, social media, and the alumnae magazine to keep alumnae informed and engaged.
  • Work closely with the Office of Marketing and Communications to ensure alignment in tone, voice, and brand messaging.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for alumnae inquiries, ensuring timely and thoughtful responses.

 

Volunteer and Board Management

  • Support and coordinate the activities of the Alumnae Board of Managers; serve as the primary College liaison with the board.
  • Recruit, train, and steward alumnae volunteers for events, admissions, career programming, and other initiatives.
  • Implement recognition strategies to celebrate the impact of alumnae volunteers.

 

Fundraising and Advancement Collaboration

  • Partner with advancement colleagues to identify, engage, and cultivate alumnae for annual, major, and planned giving.
  • Promote a culture of philanthropy among alumnae through storytelling, engagement, and volunteerism.

 

Data, Evaluation, and Reporting

  • Track and analyze engagement metrics to assess the impact of alumnae relations programs.
  • Prepare regular reports and presentations for senior leadership and the Board of Trustees.
  • Use data insights to drive strategic decision-making and continuous improvement.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 2–5 years of progressive experience in alumnae relations, development, or engagement; experience in higher education strongly preferred.
  • Strong leadership and project management skills with a demonstrated ability to build consensus and work collaboratively.
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated success in building relationships with diverse constituencies.
  • Strategic and creative thinker with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Willingness to travel and work evenings/weekends as necessary.
  • A commitment to the mission, history, and values of Wesleyan College and women’s education.
