Job Summary

 

Reporting to the Associate Vice President of Campaigns, the Prospect Research Specialist works closely with the leadership gifts team on the continuity of the donor cycle with a concentration on prospect identification and the process of cultivating and soliciting major and planned gifts. This individual, in partnership with members of the Advancement staff, oversees a range of activities that focuses on individual donors as well as larger affinity donor groups. The Specialist's work results in identifying individual donor prospects with the leadership gifts team and managing the prospect records to establish and maintain clear and accurate reporting for fundraising and campaign planning purposes. Regularly scheduled portfolio reviews and refreshing data is also part of this role, as well as providing a liaison to the vendor for donor records.

 

Specific Responsibilities

 

  • Work with the Associate Vice President of Campaigns to use multiple data sources to review prospect development and moves management efforts including key performance metrics, and pipeline movement and development with a focus on building and editing gift officer portfolios.
  • Participates in development of a pool of top campaign prospects, reports philanthropic potential to AVP Campaigns and VP. Provides periodic reports on updates for this high priority group.
  • Provides proactive and responsive research for Advancement colleagues and senior leaders

 

  • Leads creation of prospect management policies and procedures and maintains up-to-date documentation. Provides education and training in usage of donor data software to Advancement staff.
  • Conducts periodic portfolio review sessions with fundraising staff to discuss philanthropic potential, ensure data integrity of portfolios, and discuss strategy.
  • Produces proactive research including research of high likelihood constituents and review of wealth screening results to grow the prospect pool.

 

  • Works with divisional and other colleagues at the university to advance research goals.
  • Partners with Advancement Services staff to ensure data and research policies, processes, and data integrity.

 

  • Contributes to the overall success of the Office for Advancement and the university by performing other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Provide research, information, and data review for all Advancement publications and reports.

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

Education

 

Bachelor's degree required.

 

Experience

 

Two years experience in data analytics, advancement research or related field required. Experience with wealth screening and/or donor moves management software preferred. Experience with Ellucian Colleague and Informer or similar CRM/Report generation required.

Ability to understand and communicate basic philanthropy strategies and initiatives of the University.
